Harbour West Pier

Overview

The piling to the inner harbour dates back to the late 1980s, a 122m long steel sheet piled wall was driven in front of an existing steel sheet piled wall starting adjacent to the inner harbour wall.

North Yorkshire Council contracted NEOM to undertake ECI works from RIBA 2 onwards, to include full design and construction works to strengthen the life expired West Pier Sheet Piled Retaining Wall.

Scope

  • ECI Works (Detailed on next slide)
  • Dive Surveys (NDT)
  • Water Sampling / Ecology Surveys
  • Development works to provide most cost effective and
    environmentally sustainable solution
  • Innovative technique to carrying out repairs – solution is
    replacement of fully defective piles and repairs where possible.
  • Implementation of Cathodic Protection System
  • Installation of Paint Protection System

During the ECI Stage, NEOM worked as part of the NYC Project Team to develop the following principal outputs:

  • Outline Design.
  • Detailed Design.
  • Development of the Site Information.
  • Development of the Works Information.
  • Development of the Construction Stage programme, including any
    phasing proposals.
  • Development of site establishment and preliminaries proposals.
  • Development of site access and traffic management proposals.
  • Development of the Risk Register.
  • Preparation of the Activity Schedule for the Construction Stage.
  • Engagement of sub-contractor and materials supply chain.
  • Procurement of sub-contract packages.
  • Agreement of the Priced Activity Schedule for the Construction Works.
  • Obtain permissions to carry out the Works.
