Client: Marina Developments Limited
Overview
The Marina lock gates in Hythe is an important structure for the local community. It provides a route for the residents in the Hythe marina village to access the Southampton Water. When opened in 1985, it was the first marina development of its kind as it combined over 200 berths and 220 waterside properties on the western shore of Southampton water.
Over the years, the lock gate has been subject to the harsh environment of the Southampton water, causing erosion and mechanical damage to the operating systems. The refurbishment will allow for the safe operation of the lock gates, as well as providing a protection to the gates, hydraulics and high-level structural elements on the gates. The works were planned over a shutdown period of 3 weeks, NEOM delivered the project ahead of schedule, handing back a week early, allowing the lock to be re opened for use by the marina village community.
